No Kissing. No touching. And definitely no falling in love…

18698371Armed with her besties, an embarrassing number of shots, and her list of 10 Wild Things To Do Before Adulthood, recent grad Cameron Lawson is partying it up before she starts her dream job at New York’s biggest ad agency. Her last task? Hook up with a random guy. And while it’s so not her style, the super-sexy guy sitting next to her is definitely game. No names. No details.

At least, that was the plan.

On her first day of work, Cameron discovers her hook-up is none other than Aidan Truitt—her new boss’s boss. Talk about failing the “no fraternizing with coworkers” policy on an epic level. Especially when Aidan makes it clear their one night was only the beginning. Falling for him could cost her everything, but sometimes the only way to get what you want is by breaking a few rules…

First Impression: Well-written, engaging, with a fun intro to the hero and heroine.

Oh man. I loved No Kissing Allowed by Melissa West. I didn’t know the author prior to this book, so I had no preconceived notions before starting to read. But the book proved to be extremely well-written, and the heroine, Cammie, earned herself a place on my favorites list. She was such a dynamite character, easy to like and relate to, and the story surrounding her was intriguing, fun, and enthralling.

When Cammie goes out with her friends the weekend before they all start their first career-minded jobs, she wasn’t planning to hookup with anyone. Especially since she’d never done it before. And like all good girl lets loose decisions, the drunken choice to indulge in a night with a gorgeous guy comes back to bite her in the rear. Why? Because the gorgeous guy, whose name she didn’t ask, turns out to be her boss’s boss, Aiden. Lucky her, right?

This story was so entertaining to read. Fun, no doubt, but it had some emotional teeth to it as well. It wasn’t just a surface good girl hooks up with an anonymous hot guy for the first time story. There were consequences to Cammie’s actions, because now she has to deal with her hookup guy at work, and for a good, responsible girl like Cammie, that causes a bit of stress. Even more so when Aiden becomes someone unlike anyone Cammie was expecting to meet. He’s charming, and fun, and creative and smart.

I love that these characters weren’t cookie cutters. They were strikingly unique, and their story much different than others I’ve read with this same type of theme. I loved how Cammie and her friends were struggling to find themselves within their new job, and also how Cammie struggled with fighting her attraction to Aiden. She’d done one thing out of the ordinary and now her life is filled with the complications from it, which I loved because it made for a good lesson for her and a great read for me. She needed to be shaken up a bit, I think, and the result of that shakeup was so captivating and emotionally gripping that I felt every bit as anxious as Cammie herself did when things with Aiden intensified and the fear of being hurt grew more real.

Another thing I loved about this book? The pacing. It wasn’t fast or slow, but the right amount to let me savor all the moments in the story and everything that made the book and the characters work for me. I liked that a lot. I liked being able to just get out of my head and immerse myself in a stellar read with amazing characters, and that’s exactly what this book allowed me to do. So, so good.

If you love a good boss/employee, forbidden love, finding out who you truly are romance, No Kissing Allowed is a fantastic, fun, humorous but also emotionally satisfying, full-on magnetic read. Highly, highly recommend!
