Release Day Blitz: Fast Connection by Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell (Review)

 Cyberlove #2

Megan Erickson & Santino Hassell

Release day: July 11, 2016

Book Summary

After a decade of serving in the Army, everyone still expects me to be Dominic ‘Nicky’ Costigan—the skirt-chasing player. They don’t know I’ve been spending my days trying to figure out my post-military life. Including how to pick up guys.

When I meet Luke on a hookup app, he makes it clear it’s for one-night only. That’s fine with me, because I’m down to see what this silver fox can do. But after I arrive at his doorstep, it doesn’t take long to realize we have serious chemistry, and we end up meeting again.

He’s got more walls around his heart than a military base, but I think he’s as addicted to me as I am to him. He can’t resist me for long. I mean, who can? Except Luke’s rules exist for a reason, and when I test his limits, things get complicated. Maybe too complicated.

My Thoughts

*ARC provided by Authors in exchange for a fair and honest review*

In Fast Connection, authors Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell return to the Cyberlove world first introduced in Strong Signal (Garrett/Kai) back in February 2016. Like it’s predecessor, Fast Connection deals with not only meeting in the Cyber world, but also coming home from military service and trying to build a new life, and it packs one hell of a romance punch. So much so that this book was an absolute delight to read and impossible to put down.

As I’ve said before, I am not a huge reader of m/m romance. I mostly stick with authors I know or books that have been recommended to me by a trusted friend, but I’ve been a fan of Megan Erickson for years and since I trust her as an author, I signed up to read and review Strong Signal and immediately fell in love with Garrett and Kai. And it’s because of the amazing reading experience of that book that I signed up to read and review this book, and let me just say, Fast Connection, its two mega-talented authors, and its characters, Dominic and Luke, did not let me down. If anything, Erickson and Hassell further ignited  a serious love of their m/m stories and the beautiful relationship that develops between two amazingly flawed and complicated men.

Dominic is doing his best to deal with returning to civilian life and figuring out what he wants to do now that he’s out of the military. He’s also determined to hook up with a guy, both for the sex as much as for the companionship and distraction it provides him. Luke isn’t a relationship guy, by any means, and the last thing he wants is a hookup becoming more, and yet, with Dominic, he finds it impossible to stay away. So much so, he breaks his own rules for him.

Dominic isn’t the same cocky guy he we met in the first book. Instead, he’s uncertain, insecure, and so damn lost you can’t help but want to hug the guy and tell him everything will be alright. And Luke, man, he’s a grumpy guy, who likes simple routines and no string hookups. He wasn’t expecting a guy like Dominic to come into his life, but once he does, he breaks through some of Luke’s iron-clad control, making the burden of Luke’s past a little lighter to bear.

Fast Connection is a stunning, multi-layered romance with two incredible male leads who will make you laugh as well as break your heart. It’s raw and real and so utterly brilliant, I couldn’t help but want to read it all over again once I finished.

About The Authors

Megan Erickson

Megan Erickson is a USA Today bestselling author of romance that sizzles. Her books have a touch of nerd, a dash of humor, and always have a happily ever after. A former journalist, she switched to fiction when she decided she likes writing her own endings better.

She lives in Pennsylvania with her very own nerdy husband and two kids. Although rather fun-sized, she’s been told she has a full-sized personality. When Megan isn’t writing, she’s either lounging with her two cats named after John Hughes characters or… thinking about writing.

SH image

Santino Hassell was raised by a conservative family, but he was anything but traditional. He grew up to be a smart-mouthed, school cutting grunge kid, then a transient twenty-something, and eventually transformed into an unlikely romance author.

Santino writes queer romance that is heavily influenced by the gritty, urban landscape of New York City, his belief that human relationships are complex and flawed, and his own life experiences.
